What does the child do in a thinking activity?

The child is not just looking at a ready solution. He collects clues, saves information that is important to continue, chooses a step and immediately sees if the path he chose brings him closer to the goal.

Saves an image, sound, order or track and uses them later.

Memory, logic and strategy are not the same thing. Memory stores and retrieves information, logic connects data and discovers a rule, and strategy uses information and rules to choose a series of moves. In many tasks the three abilities work together.

You can think alone — and you can play together

Some of the strategy games exist against the computer and some also for two players. Cooperative play adds waiting for a turn, explaining a choice and reacting to another person's move.

Questions about thinking and memory games for children

Short answers before choosing an activity

At what age can memory games be started?

You can start with short matching tasks when the child understands the purpose of the game and is able to choose between several options. Start with a few items and add gradually.

What is the difference between a memory game and a logic game?

In a memory game you have to save and retrieve information. In a logic game you have to connect clues and discover a rule. Many activities combine the two ways.

Are all 73 activities suitable for every age?

No. There are simple adaptations for young children alongside more complex puzzles and strategy games. Choose according to ability and experience, not just according to the number in age.

Can a child who doesn't read yet play?

Yes. Many activities are based on images, sounds, positioning, dragging and selecting. In tasks with written instructions, a brief explanation by an adult may be necessary.

What do you do when the child gets stuck in a puzzle?

Give a small hint about the next step instead of solving everything. If the frustration persists, move on to another task and come back later.

Do you need to solve quickly to succeed?

No. The goal is to understand the rule and build a stable path. You can give time to observe, try and change a decision without turning the activity into a speed test.

Do you have to go through the activities in order?

No. You can choose a memory, a maze, a model or a board game according to the child's interest, and then progress within the same type of challenge.

Can you also play with a friend or family member?

Yes. Some of the board and strategy games include versions for two players, alongside versions where you play against the computer.

Do you have to win a strategy game to learn?

No. Choosing a move, anticipating a reaction and understanding a mistake are part of the practice even when the game ends in a loss.

Do the games replace professional diagnosis or treatment?

No. These are play and learning activities to practice at home. They are not a diagnostic tool, medical treatment or a substitute for professional recommendation.
